Maiden Voyage of a Yacht (Maiden Voyage)

The term Maiden Voyage refers to the first voyage of a yacht after it has been tested for tightness and performance. During the launching ceremony, which takes place a few weeks/months before, a bottle of champagne is smashed over the bow of the yacht for good luck.

The history of maiden voyages of ships dates back to ancient times, where ancient civilizations held special ceremonies to summon their gods to protect them. The most tragic maiden voyage was that of the RMS Titanic. Usually, yachts make their maiden voyages to refuel their yachts' tanks in strategic locations such as Gibraltar, which is located right on the border between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
